Progressive Safety Gear
Elevator safety gear is a safety device that stops the elevator in an emergency by interlocking with the elevator overspeed governor. Safety gear is divided into instantaneous safety gear and progressive safety gear. Instantaneous safety gear is used for elevators of ≤0.63m/s, and progressive safety gear is used for elevators of >0.63m/s.
