Production Process of Molybdenum Powder
In industrial production of molybdenum powder, molybdenum trioxide or ammonium molybdate is reduced by hydrogen gas with dew point temperature below -25℃. When ammonium molybdate is used as raw material, it is calcined in resistance furnace or rotary tube furnace, the temperature is controlled at 500 ~ 600℃, and the product after calcined is yellow or white molybdenum trioxide powder. The roasted molybdenum trioxide was firstly reduced by hydrogen in a tubular resistance furnace, and the reduction temperature was controlled at 450 ~ 650℃. The product was dark brown molybdenum dioxide powder.The reduced molybdenum dioxide powder is rereduced by hydrogen in a tubular resistance furnace. General reduction temperature is controlled in 850 ~ 950℃, the product is gray metal powder,In industrial production, roasting and primary reduction are also combined, and the temperature is controlled at 500 ~ 600℃. Molybdenum powder with high purity and fine particle is usually prepared by reducing molybdenum chloride with hydrogen.
