Trifluoromethyl cinnamic acid can be used to make liquid crystal materials. It can also be used as a catalyst for olefin polymerization with some transition metal compounds to obtain a crystalline and transparent polyolefin siloxane-grafted poly-p-trifluoromethylstyrene which can be used for coating a thermoplastic resin film, so that it has better smoothness, water drive, oil drive and viscosity resistance.
