Barium chlorideis a monohydrate of barium chloride and barium chlorate, and its appearance is colorless prismatic crystals or white powder. Easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. This product, barium chlorate, is a stable strong oxidant. It will not polymerize and decompose born chlorine and barium oxide. Mixing with reducing agents, organic matter, flammable substances (such as sulfur, phosphorus or metal powder) will form an explosive mixture. Contact with sulfuric acid is prone to explosion. Rapid heating will cause an explosion. The use of strong reducing agents, flammable or combustible materials, strong acids, alcohol, sulfur, phosphorus, aluminum and magnesium is prohibited. Conditions to avoid contact: impact, friction, heat.
