Becauseregulationslimit the weight of solventper gallon of coating,formulatorsfavor theuseoflow-density solvents thathelpreduce the VOC content of a coating.
MIAKislowerindensitythanester,aromatic hydrocarbons, and glycol ether solvents with similarevaporationrates.
ThelowdensityandhighactivityofMIAKare significant advantages when formulatinglow-viscosity,high-solids coatings. Inaddition,MIAKisusefulasapolymerization solvent forhigh solids acrylicresins.
