L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na

Solubility of L-Cysteine S-Sulfate Na
Water solubility: It is highly soluble in water with good dissolution performance. At 25 °C, the solubility in pure water is approximately 80–100 g/100 mL. The dissolution process is slightly endothermic, and the solution is colorless and transparent, showing a weak acidic pH (5.0–6.5 for 10% aqueous solution) due to the dissociation of the amino group and the sulfonate group.
Solubility in organic solvents: It is almost insoluble in non-polar organic solvents such as petroleum ether, hexane, and chloroform. It has limited solubility in low-polarity protic solvents (e.g., ethanol, methanol)—the solubility in 95% ethanol at 25 °C is less than 1 g/100 mL. It is slightly soluble in polar aprotic solvents (e.g., dimethylformamide, DMF), with a solubility of approximately 2–3 g/100 mL, which is related to the compatibility between its ionic structure and the solvent's polarity.
Solubility in electrolyte solutions: Its solubility in aqueous solutions of inorganic salts (e.g., NaCl, KCl) decreases slightly with the increase of electrolyte concentration, which is caused by the "salting-out effect"—the electrolyte ions compete with the sodium salt ions for water molecules, reducing the hydration degree of L-cysteine S-sulfate sodium salt molecules.
