El trioleato de sorbitan, también conocido como sto, se sintetiza mediante la Esterificación del anhídrido Sorbitol con ácido oleico.Su fórmula molecular es c 60 H 10 8 o 8 .Líquido viscoso amarillo claro a temperatura ambiente.Es un emulsionante W / o con H LB de 1, 8 .Soluble en aceites minerales y vegetales.Sus funciones incluyen la emulsificación de cosméticos y productos de cuidado personal; lubricantes, dispersantes y suavizantes para textiles; y la prevención de la oxidación de la extracción de petróleo.
