Titanium carbide rods are specially designed for automotive molds
Titanium carbide round rods composed of cemented carbide exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, making them suitable for use as electrodes in electrical discharge machining (EDM). In precision mold EDM applications, these rods ensure low electrode wear and high machining accuracy. They also demonstrate superior fatigue resistance and are resistant to cracking under repeated impact loads, rendering them ideal for manufacturing tool components subjected to high-frequency vibrations. In the nuclear energy sector, their outstanding radiation resistance enables their application as tools for machining internal reactor components. The properties of titanium carbide round rods can be customized by adjusting the titanium carbide content—typically ranging from 70% to 90%—and the binder proportion. Higher titanium carbide content enhances wear resistance, making the material more suitable for rough machining operations, whereas an increased binder ratio improves toughness, which is beneficial for fine machining processes. With a density of only 6.5 g/cm³, these rods are approximately 20% lighter than tungsten carbide rods of comparable dimensions, making them well-suited for lightweight tooling applications. In the 3C electronics industry, they are widely employed in the machining of precision components such as mobile frames and laptop housings, ensuring scratch-free surfaces and minimal dimensional deviations.
