This ancient national product of the Caucasus appeared approximately in the eighteenth century. Women rubbed hot flax seed with manual millstones, getting a thick and oily paste. It is this highly nutritious and healthy dish received in the Avar language the name urba ‘ground Flaxseed’ or ‘URBECH’. The soldiers took with them orbec on long hikes, because just a small amount of this paste from ground seeds helped quickly enough, increase stamina and strengthen the immune system.
