Laboratory Automotive Wash and Friction Testing Bench,Lab automotive wash and abrasion testing equipment
The Laboratory Automotive Wash and Friction Testing Bench is designed to evaluate the scratch resistance of automotive coating systems through controlled laboratory washing and friction tests. It simulates real-world car wash conditions in a repeatable and standardized laboratory environment, providing accurate assessment of coating durability under mechanical and frictional stress.
Application
Primary applications:
Assessing scratch resistance of automotive paint and clear coat systems
Evaluating coating performance under mechanical friction and water exposure
Laboratory testing for automotive coatings, material development, and quality control
Typical tested products:
Automotive exterior panels (metal and composite substrates)
Automotive clear coats and multi-layer paint systems
Laboratory-coated metal panels for R&D
Material samples requiring controlled wash and friction testing
Standards
(1) BS ISO 20566 – Paints and varnishes: Determination of coating system scratch resistance using laboratory car wash equipment
(2) ISO 20566:2021 – Paints and varnishes: Laboratory-scale car wash testing for coating systems
(3) ISO 13076 – Visual assessment of coating surface appearance
(4) ISO 2813 – Measurement of coating gloss
(5) ISO 13803 – Measurement of coating haze
(6) ISO 7724 – Color measurement and color difference evaluation of coatings

Test Procedures
Installation of Wash Rotor
Attach the automotive wash brush rotor to the rotation shaft of the test bench using specialized bolts.
Gap Adjustment
Adjust the vertical gap between the rotor edge and test platform to 100 mm using adjustment tools.
Preparation of Test Solution
Add the cleaning agent to the circulating water tank and ensure thorough mixing using the built-in agitator.
Sample Placement
Place test parts or sample panels on the work platform.
Trial Run
Perform a preliminary run to ensure correct operation, brush contact, and spray distribution.
Formal Testing
Run the programmed wash cycle, applying controlled brush and water motion to evaluate coating scratch resistance.
Maintenance Information
Clean brushes and work platform after each test.
Inspect spray nozzles for clogging and clean or replace as needed.
Regularly check water tank level and agitator function.
Ensure platform drive system and safety switches are operational.
Keep test chamber dry and free from residue after tests to maintain accuracy.
