The ss capillary tube has high precision and can be used in various measuring instruments. Based on its thick-walled, small-diameter structure (usually 1/8" or smaller diameter), such stainless steel capillary tube will be used in various key applications, including nuclear reactors and even resistance-heated ion rocket jets.

With the technological advances in the life science market, small components can be used under higher operating pressure. Ultra-small-diameter capillary is very important for high performance and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC and UPLC) equipment. Generally, the outer diameter of such capillaries is less than 1/16 (1.59 mm), which can be used in many key applications. High-quality stainless steel will form a passive protective layer on the surface under oxygen-enriched conditions. Because different alloying elements have different melting points, changing the key chemical composition in the heat affected zone (HAZ) can cause the layer to be affected by poor heat treatment and welding.
