TETRA is the acronym of TErrestrial Trunked RAdio. As a global standard for digital trunked radio communication, TETRA is characterized by high voice quality and high secured communication.
This standard was developed by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) in partnership with leading manufacturers, operators and user organizations. Secure voice and data transmission, excellent functionality and a wide range of performance features guarantee the adaptability needed to meet the challenging requirements of professional mobile radio and its usage-critical applications. TETRA is targeted primarily at the mobile radio needs of public security & safety, public transportation, oil & gas, utilities, government, etc.
Although large-scale public safety projects drove TETRA's initial development, demand from the other industries has increased significantly over the last decade, with TETRA being adopted as one of the most popular technology for voice and data communications.
