The soil moisture measurement is a dielectric sensor, which measures the change in capacitance on the sensor to measure the dielectric constant or permittivity of the inserted medium. Another type of dielectric sensor, TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer), is very expensive and complicated, and its large-scale use is limited. Since the dielectric constant of water is very high, when the moisture content of the soil changes, the dielectric constant of the soil also changes considerably. GS3 soil moisture conductivity temperature sensor can minimize the influence of temperature change on the measurement.

Soil electrical conductivity is an indicator to determine the input water-soluble pigment, and water-soluble salt in soil is an important attribute of soil, and it is a factor to determine whether salt ions in soil restrict crop growth. Conductivity is measured by the high-frequency alternating current method, and the resistance of the soil solution between the two parallel electrodes is measured, and then converted into conductivity. The soil temperature is measured by the thermistor built into the sensor.
