It appears as a white crystalline solid or colorless liquid (in solution form), highly soluble in water and alcohol. Its hygroscopic nature and high-density properties make it valuable in multiple sectors.

• Oil & Gas Drilling:

  • Used as a denseclear brine fluidin completion and workover operations to stabilize high-pressure wells.

  • Compatible with zinc bromide and calcium chloride blends for adjustable density (up to 19.2 lb/gal).

• Deicing & Dust Control:

  • Effective as aroad deicer(low freezing point: −50°C/−58°F) and dust suppressant.

• Chemical Synthesis:

  • Intermediate in bromine compound manufacturing (e.g., flame retardants, pharmaceuticals).

• Food & Medicine:

  • Food additive (E238 preservative) and electrolyte in veterinary medicines.
