Scope of Application:
This instrument is designed for determining the smoothness of paper and board materials according to the Bekk principle. The test involves placing a sample of paper or board against a highly polished glass surface under a controlled clamping pressure. A vacuum is then applied to the space between the paper and the glass plate, and the time taken for a specific volume of air to leak across the paper surface and under the clamping ring is measured. This air leakage time is the indicator of smoothness. The tester is widely used in:
