Test System for oil thread leak test of HEPA filter according to ISO 29463-4 (EN 1822-4). The oil thread test mentioned in ISO 29463-4 (1822-4), annex A is used for visual proof of the absence of leakage of HEPA filters. This simple quality test procedure may be an alternative to the scan method.
The oil thread test (DOP Test) is also applicable if the scan method is not fully applicable because of the filter design (e.g. V-shaped arrangements).

Principle
The filter element (sample) is mounted horizontally with the upstream side down on the test bench and secured with a pneumatically operated fixing device. For testing, the filter is then exposed to a flow of a polydisperse aerosol of oil droplets (DEHS).
An existing leak is made visible on a rising oil thread on the downstream side (upper side) of the filter.

Operation Instructions
System Setup: Mount filter horizontally in the pneumatic holder. Confirm compressed air and electrical supply.
Parameter Adjustment: Set aerosol flow and test duration according to filter size.
Test Execution: Apply DEHS aerosol to the upstream side. Observe downstream for rising oil threads indicating leaks.
Data Recording: Record visual inspection results manually; optionally photograph for documentation.
Safety: Ensure aerosol is contained, and personnel avoid direct contact.
Experimental Procedure
Preparation: Install filter and confirm all connections.
Testing: Start aerosol flow; monitor for visual leak indications.
Observation & Analysis: Inspect downstream side for oil threads; identify leak positions.
