Use of Paraffin with Different Melting Points
High melt point - high melt wax is very suitable for making cylindrical candles, hand-dipped fine candles, moulded candles, moulded or carved gift candles. High melt wax is very hard and cannot retain its fragrance. Its melting point is 145 degrees Fahrenheit or 63 degrees Celsius. This kind of wax is needed to make all kinds of waxes mentioned above so that the candle will not sink itself when it is cooled. If this high melt wax is used to make candles, additives are needed.
Medium melting point of candle wax in celsius- This kind of wax is usually used to make prayer candles and sometimes container candles. Its melting point is 127-145 degrees Fahrenheit or 53-63 degrees Celsius. This wax feels harder than low melting point wax, but it keeps its shape better. This wax has good fragrance retention, but additives are needed. This type of wax is massive and needs to be cut into small pieces to melt.
Low Melting Point - This type of wax melts at 127 degrees Fahrenheit or 53 degrees Celsius. Soft wax is an ideal material for making container candles and has the characteristics of lasting fragrance retention. Soft wax has strong flexibility and does not need additives until the candle burns out. Softer paraffin have many advantages, but they are difficult to process and emit more soot than other waxes.
Once you decide on the type of candle you want to make, you can choose the most suitable paraffin. Wherever you buy paraffin, you must know the melting point of the purchased paraffin, so that the gift candles will look good.
