Wear-resistant steel-bonded hard alloy round bar
Titanium carbide (TiC)-based cemented carbide round rods exhibit exceptional electrical conductivity, rendering them highly suitable for electrodes in electrical discharge machining (EDM). In precision mold EDM applications, these rods enable minimal electrode wear and high dimensional accuracy. Owing to their superior fatigue resistance, they demonstrate remarkable resistance to crack initiation and propagation under cyclic mechanical loading—making them ideal for tooling components subjected to high-frequency vibration. In nuclear engineering, their outstanding radiation resistance qualifies them for use as machining tools in the fabrication and maintenance of internal reactor components. Furthermore, with advances in additive manufacturing, TiC-based hard alloy powders—derived from these rods—have been successfully employed in selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM) processes; sintered parts fabricated via these methods achieve >99.5% of theoretical density and mechanical performance comparable to conventionally sintered counterparts. In photovoltaic manufacturing, TiC-based cutting tools are utilized for slicing silicon wafers, enabling tight thickness control (±1 μm tolerance) and thereby enhancing solar cell conversion efficiency. Collectively, these multifunctional properties establish titanium carbide hard alloy rods as a critical enabling material in advanced manufacturing sectors.
