Working Principle

Chillers operate via avapor-compression refrigeration cycle:

  1. Evaporation: Low-pressure refrigerant absorbs heat from the coolant (e.g., water/glycol mix) in the evaporator.
  2. Compression: A compressor increases refrigerant pressure and temperature.
  3. Condensation: High-pressure gas releases heat to the environment via air-cooled fins or water-cooled towers.
  4. Expansion: The refrigerant expands, lowering its temperature before re-entering the evaporator.

For air-cooled models, fans dissipate heat; water-cooled systems use external cooling towers.

Test Principle & Applications

Chillers are tested for:

  • Temperature Stability: ±0.1°C control accuracy under load.
  • Efficiency: Coefficient of Performance (COP) ratings ≥3.5 for energy savings.
  • Pressure Resistance: Leak tests ensure system integrity.
