PVPI (Povidone Iodine) is a stable chemical complex of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and elemental iodine, which is completely soluble in water, ethanol etc. PVP-Iodine can extinguish bacterial, virus, fungus effectively. It is a stable complex with no irritation, which can dissolve in water completely.
PVPI is the complex compound of PVP K30 and iodine, it has powerful bactericidal action to germ, virus,fungus, mold. It is stable, has no irritation and can dissolve in water completely. We also invent high-stable PVPI which is called YK-1032 by our own R&D team.
Application:
Povidone Iodine is the complex compound of PVP and Iodine. It has powerful bactericidal action to germ, virus, fungus, and mold. Its microbicidal potential and microbicidal spectrum is equally the same as those of Iodine. PVPI retains the most valuable advantages of high efficient partial disinfectant Iodine over the past century, and it also overcomes the disadvantages of iodine, such as low solubility, instability, easy hypersensitive reaction, thrill for skin and mucosa. Therefore, PVPI has become the first choice of Iodine disinfectants in the world's developed countries for nearly 30 years, and it has replaced Iodine tincture and
other chlorine, mercury disinfectants.
The content of free iodine in PVPI is extremely small, and a great part of the Iodine is existed in the complex form. So the stablity of Iodine is greatly improved and the toxicity is greatly reduced.
PVPI has some characteristics as follows: the sterilization's spectrum is broad, the sterilization's speed is quick, no stimulation or allergic reaction, easy to soluble in water, the bactericidal action is long-lasting, no resistance to the drugs and long storage time .So it is recommended as the preferred medical iodine disinfectant by developedcountries for more than 30 years.Its major applications are in the field of prophylaxis:
