Pharmacological Actions: Colistin is a polypeptide and a cationic surfactant that interacts with phospholipids within bacterial cell membranes, penetrating the bacterial cell membrane and disrupting its structure, leading to changes in membrane permeability and ultimately causing bacterial death, producing bactericidal effects. The product has strong antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as aerobic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., and Shigella spp.
