During PVC processing (such as extrusion, calendering, injection moulding), the polymer melt undergoes friction and adhesion with the metal surfaces of processing equipment (e.g., screws, barrels, moulds) at elevated temperatures. The lubricant's role is to reduce this friction and adhesion.
