Microcrystalline wax used for rustproofing
The rust-preventive mechanism and advantages of microcrystalline wax lie in its high molecular weight structure and adhesive properties. Its chemical composition, featuring long-chain naphthenic hydrocarbons, enables thorough wetting of metal surfaces upon melting. Upon cooling and solidification, it forms a continuous, resilient film that effectively blocks environmental moisture and electrolytes; Furthermore, microcrystalline wax exhibits superior gel strength and adhesion compared to ordinary paraffin wax, enhancing the coating's resistance to wear and peeling. This makes it particularly suitable for protecting metal components in dynamic or vibrating environments.
Specific applications include rust prevention for metal products, thickening industrial greases, and rubber protection. For example:
