Spherical roller bearings are designed to adapt to severe misalignment caused by mounting or deflection on the shaft & housing. They adopt a spherical or crowned rollers as rolling elements and raceway of the outer ring is also in spherical shape. For shock loads, their feature of self-aligning helps to absorb but has limited capabilities to high speed.
