What is Drug Metabolism Genotyping?

Pharmacogenomics is research on how genes influence body response to the drug. It focuses on the genetic variants that might affect the drug’s therapeutic response. For example, some genetic variants are associated with the enzyme levels in the liver that might affect the processing or metabolizing of the drug in human body. Even with small mutation in gene the levels of enzyme in liver will change significantly, which might greatly impact the drug's safety and effectiveness.
