1. Functions within living organisms
Collagen synthesis: As the main component of collagen (accounting for approximately 14%), it is crucial for the elasticity and strength of connective tissues such as the skin, joints, and blood vessels.
Neurotransmitter precursors: In the brain, they can be converted into glutamic acid (excitatory neurotransmitter) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA, inhibitory neurotransmitter), participating in neural signal transmission.
Intestinal health: Promoting the proliferation and repair of intestinal cells, maintaining the integrity of intestinal mucosa, is particularly important for infants and postoperative patients.
Energy metabolism: It can be utilized by muscle tissue as an energy source during stress or exercise.
2. Medicine and health products
Nutritional supplements: They are used to improve skin aging, joint pain (such as osteoarthritis), or as nutritional support for patients with liver diseases and burns.
