VOD VACUUM OXYGEN DECARBURIZATIONVD/VOD Furnace
The equipment structure of a VOD furnaceis basically the same as that of a VD vacuum refining furnace. The main difference is that the VOD Refining Furnace adds an oxygen gun, its lifting system and an oxygen supply system on the upper part of the vacuum sealing cover to blow oxygen to decarbonize the liquid steel in the ladle under vacuum conditions. This vacuum oxygen decarburization method has the functions of decarburization, deoxidation, degassing, desulfurization and alloying.
VOD / VDfurnaceis used for vacuum refining of molten steel. It has two structural forms: tank cap type and tank car type. VD / VOD ladle refining furnace equipment is composed of vacuum tank or vehicle mounted tank type, vacuum tank cover, vacuum feeding device, oxygen blowing device (referring to VOD), electrical automation system, vacuum pipeline, dust removal device and vacuum pump. The furnace tonnage ranges from 5T to 300t. Like the AOD furnace, the VOD furnace is mainly used to produce stainless steel, manganese steel, ultra-low carbon alloy steel and alloy.

VDVOD furnaceproduces high-quality low-alloy steel, low-carbon steel, bearing steel, alloy steel structure, stainless steel, die steel, tool steel, ultra-low carbon steel, etc., which have strict requirements on gas, inclusions and chemical composition in steel water;
Vacuum feeding and fine adjustment of alloy composition;
Vacuum degassing;
Blowing vacuum oxygen decarburization process;
Bottom blowing argon stirring.

The vacuum tank of both the VD furnace and VOD furnace is sealed with a single-layer hollow sealing ring and protected by water cooling;
Tank cover adopts butterfly head structure with high strength and uniform stress;
Vacuum tank car adopts frequency conversion speed regulation, and the walking is stable,
Vacuum pipe adopts water-cooled pipe, which can reduce the temperature of exhaust gas and airflow;
The observation glass of the manual observation window is equipped with inert gas protection and a stroboscopic device or TV camera device; realize manual temperature measurement and sampling and automatic feeding under vacuum conditions;
Oxygen blowing device of the VD VOD furnace is equipped with a special sealing device, which is less wear, leakproof and easy to adjust the oxygen gun;
Argon blowing and stirring;
Equipped with a PLC control system.
VACUUM OXYGEN DECARBURIZATION PROCESS
Vod degassing process: The vacuum pump creates a negative pressure state inside the tank, causing the gas in the molten steel to overflow and be extracted. Blowing argon gas for stirring makes the reaction in the furnace more complete and provides more power, further overflowing and extracting the gas (degassing refers to dehydrogenation, denitrification, deoxidation, and desulfurization). As one of types of furnaces in steel making, VD/VOD furnace is mainly used for special steel, like bearing steel, tool steel, stainless steel production.
