The First Aerial UAV Aviation Operation License was Issued. Is the Aerial UAV Delivery Coming?

Recently, SF has got the first UAV air operation pilot license in China. According to the license, SF can useaerial UAVto carry out logistics and distribution in the pilot area approved by CAAC. The issuance of the first operation license means that China's industrial aerial UAV has made breakthroughs in policy. So, the aerial UAV, is it really coming?

The first operation licence has made SF a leader in domestic logistics aerial UAV. As early as in 2012, Shun Feng put forward the idea of aerial UAV logistics, and hoped to achieve a national logistics network of 36 hours through the three - stage airlift chain of "large manned transport + large aerial UAV + terminal small aerial UAV".

For aerial UAV, the idea of SF is to use unmanned aerial UAV to carry out the air logistics network, assist with land transportation and express the service to the door at the end of delivery, so as to complete the coverage of air network in most cities. In other words, the SF's aerial UAV is not only aimed at the last mile, but also for the branch line UAV transportation.

According to the introduction, the maximum effective load of SF multi rotor aerial UAV varies from several kilograms to dozens of kilograms, and the maximum load flying distance is from dozens of kilometers to more than 100 kilometers. At the same time, SF is actively developing branch line logistics aerial UAV operating capacity, and cooperatesto develop large logistics aerial UAVs. In the near future, the company Lang Xing is specially designed the AT200 for Shun Feng, the maximum range is 2000 km, 10 cubic meters of cargo hold up to a maximum of 1.5 tons of cargo with the speed of 260 kilometers per hour cruise.

In terms of application, SF's aerial UAV will not be directly targeted to customers in the short term, but will be delivered to different branches of SF express. For example, the pilot area of this license is used to deliver goods to remote and difficult areas which are difficult and slow, so as to improve efficiency and reduce labor costs.

The pilot of the Jingdong is also blossoming everywhere. In addition to Shanxi, in December 2017, Jingdong launched aerial UAV in Liangshan, Sichuan. On March 26th this year, the first aerial UAV distribution station that Jingdong tried in Hainan province was officially opened. Liu Qiangdong, chairman and chief executive of the Jingdong board, said that the Jingdong will build thousands of aerial UAVs airports throughout the country and all goods can be delivered to consumers within 24 hours.

In fact, the first test of domestic aerial UAV in the logistics field was completed by Yuantong and Taobao in 2015. In October 2017, the Cainiao Network launched a group trial of aerial UAV, carrying 6 boxes of goods. It took nine minutes to fly over nearly 5 kilometers of the strait to provide logistics services for rural Taobao. In march this year, the Cainiao Network experimented again, using aerial UAV to pick up the lion peak.
