AOC/DAC
There are mainly three types of DAC/AOC: Passive copper cable, active copper cable and active optical cable. AOC is composed of integrated optoelectronic devices, which is used for high-speed and high-reliability transmission equipment between data centers and other equipment, and uses the advantages of optical cable for data transmission. In the data center, the DAC cable is most commonly used, and it has become the best solution to achieve short-distance transmission. DAC‘ s applications are generally on optical switches, such as LY2 switches.
Primus It has been working to solve the bottleneck problem of network bandwidth opticalmodules through continuous technological innovation, adheres to concentrate superior forces constantlyimprove the industrial layout. Meanwhile, Primus lT' s dac/aoc factory will continue to invest to increase R & D efforts, and actively manufacturing good and cheap high speed dac.
DAC uses overview
DAC (Direct Attach Cable) is a non-replaceable port, and the module head and copper cable cannot be separated. In data centers, copper cables are commonly used to connect servers to storage area networks. Direct copper cables are most commonly used, and passive copper cables are especially used. Passive copper cable is the best solution for short-distance transmission because of its cheap price and fast transmission speed.
Primus IT product line covers high-speed copper cable (DAC) components and high-speed active optical cables (AOC) and active optical fiber , which can achieve stable performance and efficient connection.
Advantages of direct attach cable DAC material
- High performance: suitable for short-distance cabling in data centers, with a wide range of applications and strong switching capacity of integrated solutions.
- Energy saving and environmental protection: the internal material of dac cable is copper core, and the natural heat dissipation effect of copper cable is good, energy saving and environmental protection.
- Low power consumption: low power consumption of dac cable. Because the passive cable does not need a power supply, the power consumption of the active cable is generally about 440mW.
- Low cost: the price of copper cable is much lower than that of optical fiber, and the use of high-speed cable can greatly reduce the cabling cost of the entire data center.
The advantages of direct attach cable(DAC) and have become the first choice for users in short-distance application scenarios, and are widely used in data center interconnection scenarios such as SATA storage devices, RADI system scenarios, core routers, 10G or 40G Ethernet, etc.
DAC functions in various industries
Audio Amplification and Video coding
DAC is used to generate DC voltage gain through microcontroller commands. Typically, DAC will be integrated into the entire audio codec that includes signal processing capabilities. The video encoder system processes video signals and sends digital signals to various DAC to produce analog video signals in various formats, these IC may have integrated DAC.
Data acquisition and distribution system
Data acquisition includes a process control terminal, in which the processor sends feedback data to DAC to convert it into an analog signal. The data to be measured is digitized by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and then sent to the processor. Many industrial and factory production lines require multiple programmable voltage sources, and the use of DAC allows the voltage to be changed dynamically during system operation.
Digital potentiometer and display electronics
Almost all digital potentiometers are based on serial DAC architecture. By reorganizing the resistor/ switch array and adding an I2C compatible interface, the all-digital potentiometer can be realized. The graphics controller usually uses a look-up table to generate data signals sent to the video DAC for analog output, such as signals of different colors, to drive the display.
Software radio
Fiber dac cable is used in conjunction with a digital signal processor (DSP) to convert a signal into an analog signal, which is transmitted in a mixer circuit and then to a radio power amplifier and transmitter.
FAQs of AOC DAC
