Tips for Success when looking for an Outdoor LED sign
1) Brightness
Selecting a high-brightness and contrast display is the most important factor to consider when looking for an outdoor LED. Having an outdoor LED sign means that your sign will have to undergo direct sunlight and weather conditions of that specific location, so it is crucial to look for a sign with a brightness rating of 2000 nits or higher. (nit is a unit for brightness)
2) Location
Always keep in mind the surroundings of your sign, so that you will be able to get the custom specifications and configurations that are necessary for your sign to withstand upcoming problems. Many LED sign companies offer different types of upgrades for your sign. Make sure to verify the software/upgrades and see if they are compatible to your PC. Outdoor signs most likely are installed in areas with direct sunlight, so it is crucial for the customer to get a high quality UL compliant American manufactured sign in order to get an accurate life expectancy.
3) Water and Moisture Resistance
Many LED signs are manufactured in China because companies are willing to sacrifice quality in order to reduce costs. It is important to know where your sign is manufactured in order to replace parts and get the proper technical support. LED signs have an IP (ingress protection) rating that measures solid and water resistance. The first digit represents the solid rating and the second digit represents a water resistance rating.
4) Temperature Range
Current LED technology offers updated monitors capable of operating under the worst weather conditions. You should look for outdoor-rated LED displays that have an operating range of -40 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, make sure the sign is made out of the proper material (aluminum) and has proper brackets that ensures that the back of the sign is properly bounded to keep out dust or water.
