Instrument Features
The testing system adopts a biomimetic design, simulating the mechanical tactile sensation of human fingertips on fabrics. It uses multiple mechanical indicators to characterize the fabric. The indenter consists of a set of cylindrical structures resembling human fingertips with fine textures to simulate fingerprints. The indenter group is arranged in an offset configuration (three-point beam) to mimic the way human fingers touch fabrics.
The motion of the indenter group induces compressive, bending, frictional, and tensile deformations in the fabric. Force-displacement curves are collected for various deformations, and quantitative indicators such as surface compression thickness, bending resistance, friction coefficient, and tensile slope under constant load are extracted. These indicators evaluate fabric softness, stiffness, smoothness, and tightness. Based on the fabric's application, materials are rated for overall tactile feel, objectively assessing the fabric's comprehensive hand feel style. The quantified indicators provide strong support for product design, production control, and final use.
The CHES-FY Textile Material Hand Feel Style Evaluator was jointly developed by our company and Donghua University.

Advantages and features
The bionic design is used to simulate the subjective feeling of human hands on fabrics. The indenter used is a cylinder that simulates human fingers. There are fine lines on it to simulate fingerprints. The indenter also adopts the form of one on top and two on the bottom to simulate the process of human touch.
