The Limiting Oxygen Index Tester measures the minimum oxygen concentration needed to sustain combustion of solid materials like textiles and plastics. Samples are fixed vertically in a transparent cylinder with an oxygen-nitrogen mixture, ignited at the top, and observed for combustion characteristics.
