PCD CUTTING TOOL BLANKS
1.The introduction of PCD cutting tool blanks
PCD cutting tool blanks consist ofPCD layer integrally sintered at ultrahigh pressure and high temperature to a cemented tungsten carbide backing. They have the high hardness and abrasion resistance of nature diamond, and combined with the toughness that of tungsten carbide. Their life are 10 to 100 times of tungsten carbide cutters.
2.The main feature of PCD cutting tool blanks
| 1 | High hardness | The PCD hardness can reach 8000HV,it is 8 to 12 times of tungsten carbide cutters |
| 2 | Good thermal conductivity | thecoefficient of heat conductivityof PCD is700W/mK,it is 1.5 to 9 times of tungsten carbide,even higher than PCDBN and copper,so the heat generated during PCD cutting tools working transfer quickly. |
| 3 | Smallfriction coefficient | the PCD friction coefficient is 0.1-0.3,the carbide friction coefficient is 0.4-1,so the PCD can reduce the cutting force remarkablely |
| 4 | LowCoefficient of thermal expansion | the PCD is0.9×10^-6~1.18×10^-6,it is only 1/5 of tungsten carbide,so the PCD has small thermal deformation,and it higher working accuracy |
