In boiler, the sight glass or water gauge is a type of level sensor, a transparent tube through which the operator of a tank or boiler can observe the level of liquid contained within.
Gauge glassprovides you with a way to view the level of liquid or gas passing through design key points, monitor pressure changes, and almost all other things you can do with the sight glass window
When steam is slowly flowing out of the pipe, keep the ammonia cup at the end of the discharge line to allow the steam to bubble upward through the ammonia. Close the top pressure gauge valve, which will cause the steam to quickly condense in the pressure gauge glass and create a vacuum.
