Despite body mists and perfumes are both classified as fragrances, they are not the same. The biggest difference between the two, according to perfumer Mandy Aftel, is their smell intensities.

WHAT ARE FRAGRANCE BODY MIST USED FOR?
Body mists moisturize your skin and leave you smelling fantastic and feeling refreshed for the day ahead. Because they only last a few hours, you'll need to re-spray your body mist throughout the day if you want to utilize it for scent layering.
As a general guideline, reapplication every 2 to 3 hours is sufficient to keep your smell fresh and evenly applied throughout the day.

Layering is essential if you want to maximize the aroma you're wearing for the day. Utilizing a body mist in conjunction with a body lotion or scented shower gel will result in a longer-lasting aroma that you won't have to reapply.
A body spray is an excellent alternative to wearing a strong, overpowering perfume. In a circumstance such as an interview, they produce more subtle initial impressions. They're also perfect for topping up in public places when you don't want to intrude on other people's personal bubbles with a powerful spray!
Body mists may also be used to freshen up other aspects of your life! If you have an outfit that has been sitting in your closet for too long, hang it up and spritz it with your mist (keep the spray at arm's length to minimize any harm to your apparel). Perhaps you have guests coming to your house and want to set the tone. Mist the space or cushions/throws gently to create a nice touch.
