Washing Machines Carbon Brushes

Washing Machine Motor Carbon Brushes are used to conduct electric current from a stationary power supply and moving components. Because the drive motor of the washing machine has a rotating shaft and works on opposing magnetic fields it is necessary to have a device that can make contact and provide a power supply (which is stationary) to the rotating shaft of the motor. As there is friction involved, this process requires a material that is hard wearing but soft enough not to cause damage to the rotating coils within the motor and hense the carbon brush was born. An inevitable result of this friction is actual wear to the components involved and therefore because it is cheaper to manufacture and replace carbon brushes, rather than the motor of your washing machine itself, you will generally find this technology used in most modern washing machines.
