Introduction:

Ginkgo biloba extract is the active ingredients extracted from ginkgo leaves with advanced modern technology, its principal specifications consist in low acidity (ginkgolic acid <5ppm. 1ppm) and water solubility. The effective ingredients in the extract are flavone glycosidesandterpene lactones.Ginkgo has been used in traditional medicine to treat circulatory disorders and enhance memory. Laboratory studies have shown that Ginkgo biloba extract improves blood circulation by dilating blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of blood platelets. Ginkgo biloba extract is one of the most studied and commonly used extracts in North America and Europe. Hundreds of studies document its effectiveness for improving blood flow to the brain and limbs, and for protecting cells from radical damage. A French study reported in theJoumal of Gerontologyin 2006 showed that long-term treatment with Ginkgo biloba extract could enable cognitive performance to be maintained for longer, and the researches concluded that the development of Alzheimer’s disease could be prevented or at least delayed.
