Glycine
Glycine is the simplest type of α-amino acid and is the only natural amino acid without a chiral carbon atom. Its molecular formula is C₂H₅NO₂ and its structural formula is NH₂-CH₂-COOH.
It is the basic component unit of proteins and polypeptides in living organisms, and is also an important metabolic intermediate, neurotransmitter and industrial raw material, widely present in nature and living organisms.
Basic properties of glycine
