Glycine

Glycine is a non-essential amino acid naturally present in the human body and is also a substance internationally recognized as having extremely high safety. It is widely used in food, medicine, feed, and daily chemicals. Under normal usage conditions, it is very safe for both the human body and the environment.
In terms of toxicological safety, glycine has extremely low acute toxicity and is classified as a practically non-toxic substance. Currently, no carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic risks have been found, nor is there any accumulation toxicity. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and World Health Organization (FAO/WHO), the US FDA, the EU, and China's food safety standards all list glycine as a substance that can be safely used and has no daily allowable intake limit (ADI). It is the highest level in safety assessment.
From the perspective of human metabolism, after entering the body, glycine participates normally in the synthesis of proteins, glutathione, creatine, etc., and ultimately metabolizes into carbon dioxide, water, and urea and is excreted from the body. It does not remain in the body and does not produce toxic metabolites. It does not burden the liver, kidneys, etc., and normal consumption and use will not cause metabolic disorders.
In food applications, glycine is mainly used as an additive for flavoring, enhancing flavor, inhibiting bacteria, and maintaining color. The addition amount is extremely low, far below the dose that may cause physiological effects. Long-term consumption of food that meets national standards will not cause allergic reactions, irritation, gastrointestinal discomfort, etc., nor will it produce toxic harmful substances with other food components.
In medical and daily chemical uses, glycine is often used in injection solutions, health supplements, skin care products, oral care products, etc. Due to its mildness, non-irritation, and good biocompatibility, it has no irritation to the skin, mucous membranes, and wounds, and is suitable for daily use by sensitive populations.
In industrial and feed uses, glycine has no corrosiveness, no risk of flammability or explosiveness, does not pollute the environment, and storage, transportation, and operation are very safe. It is friendly to equipment and operators.
Only in extremely high doses and through non-standard channels of abuse, mild digestive tract discomfort may occur, but it will not occur under normal usage scenarios.
Overall:
Glycine has high safety, a long usage history, and extremely low risks. Under standardized usage, it is safe and reliable for human health and the environment.
