What Is Dissolved Air Flotation?
, also known as DAF, is a water treatment process that separates suspended solids, oils and other pollutants from wastewater by using micro-bubbles. Air is dissolved into water under pressure and then released into the flotation tank. When the pressure is reduced, the dissolved air forms tiny bubbles. These bubbles attach to pollutants and lift them to the surface, where the floating sludge layer is removed by a scraper system.
Compared with traditional sedimentation, dissolved air flotation is especially suitable for removing light particles, emulsified oil and suspended matter with a density close to water. It is widely used in industrial wastewater treatment, oily wastewater separation and pretreatment systems.
Working Principle of Dissolved Air Flotation
The working principle of this Dissolved Air Flotation is based on dissolved air flotation technology. Dissolved air flotation is a process where air is dissolved in water under pressure, and then the pressure is released to cause the air to precipitate as tiny bubbles. These bubbles adhere to solid particles, causing them to float to the surface and thus achieving separation.
The MW-GSF high-speed air flotation technology is particularly suitable for treating oily wastewater with a small density difference between oil and water and high content of emulsified liquid.
Its design aims to shorten the residence time of wastewater within the equipment, and it features a high oil removal rate, uniform bubble distribution, low water circulation consumption, and no release of harmful gases.
