Respirator Fit Tester

The Qinsun PortaCount Respirator Fit Tester assesses the overall integrity of masks by performing an aerosol leak test using the PortaCount particle detector. The instrument operates under controlled negative pressure and constant airflow, providing accurate quantitative fit measurements. Masks are tested on a full headform with an enhanced bladder seal system to simulate real-life usage, allowing the mask’s head harness to function naturally and ensuring more precise test results.

This system eliminates the guesswork and variability of qualitative fit tests, providing objective and repeatable evaluation of mask fit and protection performance.

Application

The PortaCount Respirator Fit Tester is suitable for fit and integrity testing across the following industries and products:

(1) Military and Defense: CBRN gas masks, full-face respirators — overall fit and protection factor assessment

(2) Occupational Safety: commercial respirators, industrial dust masks, half-face and full-face respirators — fit testing and leak detection

Test Procedures

(1) Install the mask on the full headform and secure the head harness

(2) Connect the aerosol detection system and flow control components

(3) Perform aerosol leak test under negative pressure and constant airflow

(4) Use the integrated wand to locate any leaks in exhalation valves or drink tubes

(5) Record Protection Factor (PF) and evaluate mask integrity

(6) Repeat test for multiple mask models or samples

(7) Perform cleaning and maintenance of headform and tubing after testing

Maintenance Information

(1) Clean the headform, tubing, and aerosol wand after each test

(2) Replace HEPA filters as recommended to ensure accurate measurement

(3) Store the instrument in a clean, dry environment

(4) Regularly inspect cables, connectors, and software interface components

(5) Maintain calibration documentation and follow ISO 16975-3:2017 guidelines for periodic verification
