Physicochemical properties ：white or light yellow powder. Slowly soluble in water, forming a viscous solution, insoluble in ethanol, chloroform. Odorless and tasteless. 1% aqueous solution pH value of 6-8. Viscous in stable pH value is 6-9, heated to 80℃, viscosity reduce. This has the water absorbability. Is a hydrophilic polymer water ability is very strong.

Sodium alginate use：
1. In printing and dyeing industry, sodium alginate has unique properties, print out pattern bright-coloured, line is clear, the color yield high, colour and lustre is uniform, ink the drying speed is fast, easy desizing, permeability and feel is the best. Middle and low viscosity sodium alginate are suitable for dyeing and printing requirements.
2.In the textile industry, sodium alginate can improve cotton gloss and strength, weaving without fuzz, not to drop powder, cloth cover smooth, easy elution; Sodium alginate used for warp sizing, not only to cotton fiber effectively, the synthetic fiber sizing, also can obtain good results.
3.Substitute for ice cream stabilizer, can control the formation of ice crystals, improve the ice cream taste; in fine dried noodles, vermicelli rice flour manufacturing, adding sodium alginate can improve the cohesion, make its tensile strength bending degree, reduce the breakage rate; in bread, cakes products added sodium alginate, can improve its internal organization homogeneity prolong storage time; sodium alginate can also be made into various gel food, maintain good colloid form, used in artificial imitation food.
4.In the pharmaceutical industry, alginate can be used as a dental impression material, not only cheap, simple operation, print the tooth is more accurate; sodium alginate can also be made into various dosage forms of hemostasis, hemostatic gauze, gauze sponges, scald, spray haemostatic, etc..
5.Paper sizing water sodium alginate solution instead of part of the rosin or paper surface sizing dispersant,can increase paper surface smoothness, and can adjust printing ink, wax oil absorption, improve paper resistance to flexible.
6.Used for welding electrode :Electrode material with sodium alginate mixing, can be bonded by negative coating and wet coating material, resulting in the extrusion process with sufficient plasticity, but also in the use of welding process is easy to burn to ashes, reducing spatter.
7.Sodium alginate can also be applied to resin coating, rubber paste agent, the battery pole spacing layer and water treatment. In agricultural respect, can be used as a seed treatment, insecticide, antiviral materials application.
