Microcrystalline wax is a commonly used wood polish, particularly prevalent in high-end timber maintenance. It forms a transparent, resilient protective film on the wood surface, effectively filling minute gaps in the wood fibres. This enhances the wood's lustre while providing waterproofing and scratch-resistant protection.

‌Superior flexibility and adhesion: Its molecular structure, primarily composed of naphthenic and branched-chain alkanes, renders it softer and more elastic than paraffin wax. This allows it to conform closely to the wood surface, resisting cracking or flaking.
