2-octanol with aromatic smell can be used for producing plasticizers, mineral floatation, etc.
We can produce 5000 tons of 2-octanol per year. 2-octanol is colorless inflammable oil liquid with aromatic smell. It is low toxic and can slightly dissolved in water, ether, and ethanol. The freezing point is -38��C, the boiling point is 178.3��C. And its refractive index is 1.473(20��C), specific gravity of 0.825(15��C).
