Grape seed extracts are industrial derivatives from whole grape seeds that have a great concentration of vitamin E, flavonoids, linoleic acid and phenolic OPCs. The typical commercial opportunity of extracting grape seed constituents has been for chemicals known as polyphenols having antioxidant activity in vitro.
Grape seed extract consists of some of the most powerful antioxidants known. These compounds are known as proanthocyanidins (OPC's). Grape seed extract helps support cholesterol levels already within a normal range and the blood vessels. OPC's are powerful antioxidants that can help reduce free radical damage. Grape seed extract helps mop up free radicals that may cause damage to healthy tissue. OPC's can help regenerate oxidized vitamin C and vitamin E providing an extended antioxidant value to these molecules.
