Soil nail are used to attach structures and fixtures to masonry
the face of a rock slope or cut. When securing the face of an excavation, rock bolts are used to support the unstable
rock on the surface to the more stable rock behind the excavation. Soil nails anchor the overhead portion of the tunnel excavation to the
more stable rock above it. Anchor bolts serve to connect a structure to its foundation and can be used when securing wind turbines, tower
structures, sign posts, stairways, and buildings.
Soil nail are used to attach structures and fixtures to masonry. Light posts, bridge railings and hand rails are examples of items requiring anchor bolts to attach them securely to concrete slabs or floors. In addition, walls and stairs are permanently fastened to concrete slabs and other walls during construction, using various sizes of anchor bolts. Most Soil nails are a minimum of 1/2-inch in diameter in order to provide adequate tensile strength.
