SiSiB is a worldwide leading manufacturer of organosilanes for over 30 years. Acetoxy silane-based crosslinkers are used for producing acetoxy moisture-curing silicone sealants. Using these silane compounds, hydroxy-functionalized silicone polymers are crosslinked to obtain a silicone elastomer under the effect of a catalyst and moisture.
Acetoxy silicone sealants relatively have good adhesion to various substrates as well as fast cure time, short tack-free time and cost-effectiveness. Acetoxy silanes are widely used for kitchens, bathrooms and other internal sealing applications.
There will be strong vinegar-like smell during the curing as acetic acid will be released. That’s also why acetoxy-based moisture-curing silicone sealants have a stronger smell than neutral moisture-curing silicone sealants. The acid is even unfriendly to certain substrates, such as corroding metals and sensitive electronic components, causing discoloration on natural stone and etc.
SiSiB offers both pure acetoxy silanes which can be used either in pure form or in mixtures of different acetoxy silanes which can be used directly in corresponding formulations. SiSiB® PC7930 (Methyltriacetoxysilane, MTA), SiSiB® PC7950 (Ethyltriacetoxysilane, ETA) and SiSiB® PC7970 (Propyltriacetoxysilane, PTA) are the predominant acetoxy silane crosslinkers.
SiSiB® PC7910, di-tertbutoxy-diacetoxysilane is used as an effective adhesion promoter for acetoxy crosslinking RTV-1 sealants.
