Hesperetin is a kind of natural flavonoid compound, widely existing in the fruits of rutaceous plants. Hesperidin and hesperetin have a close relationship with each other. Hesperetin mainly comes from decomposed enzymatically hesperidin with the appearance of light yellow or off-white powder. Hesperetin structure is very complex with the three hydroxy groups located at the 3'-, 5- and 7-positions and an additional methoxy substituent at the 4'-position. Hesperetin is widely used in the food, nutraceutical and cosmetics industries.
Hesperetin was listed in FEMA as the raw material of flavours and fragrances in 2007 with FEMA No. 4313 and also listed in SFDA GB2760 in 2017 with No.N375.

Hesperidin and Hesperetin: What's the Difference?
Hesperetin and Hesperidin are different substances. Hesperetin is a chemical substance with a molecular formula of C16H14O6. It is mainly derived from young fruits of the citrus genus of the Rutaceae family, which belongs to one of the dihydroflavonoids. It is light yellow needle-like crystal or powder. Hesperidin is also known as Chuanpisu; Dihydroflavonoid glycosides, molecular formula C28H34O15, are white or light yellow crystalline powder; odorless and tasteless. It is easily soluble in pyridine or dimethylformamide, but insoluble in ethanol or water. But the functions of the two are similar. Both have the functions of anti-oxidation and elimination of free radicals, regulating the cardiovascular system, and can protect the nervous system, anti-allergic and dermatitis, anti-bacteria and microorganisms, anti-cancer and genotoxicity.
