Introduction:
Spectinomycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with strong inhibitory effects on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Pneumococcus, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Mycoplasma and certain other pathogens.
Mode of Action:
Spectinomycin sulfate works by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial death.
