The need for a machine room is one of the biggest differences between a geared traction machine and a gearless traction machine. A geared traction machine must be installed in an elevator machine room due to its size and product characteristics, while a gearless traction machine is relatively more flexible and generally does not require an elevator machine room. This is very important for many projects that do not have a pre-designed machine room.

How Does Traction Elevator System Work?

When you enter the elevator cab and push the button, strong steel ropes or belts will begin to move outside the unit.

These belts or ropes roll over the sheave, which has built-in grooves. These grooves allow the sheave to maintain a tight grip on the cables.

The cab and counterweight balance one another, allowing the weight to teeter when activated.

This counterweight stores energy and allows the cab to move in the chosen direction.
